6 Totally Crave-Worthy Desserts That Won’t Wreck Your Diet

When you’re trying to lose weight and get healthy, the hardest part can be avoiding indulgences. That chocolate cake or pint of ice cream starts to sound really appealing after eating lean for a few days (especially if we’ve had a hard day or still feel hungry after dinner). However, an important part of getting fit is understanding you don’t need to totally deprive yourself 24/7 in order to be healthy. Saying you’ll “never eat dessert again” is unrealistic and might set you up for failure when all that deprivation drives you to binge on an entire box of cookies later on. What’s a better plan? Having a few lower-calorie, healthier dessert options on hand for when sugar cravings strike. Indulging once a week on one of these healthy desserts will satisfy your cravings without sabotaging your healthy eating.

1. Gluten-Free Chocolate Cupcakes

It’s hard not to love a chocolate cupcakes, but most of the time they’re loaded with sugar and if you use a box mix they can be full of preservatives and artificial additives. Not these! We have made our gluten-free cupcakes using organic ingredients, sugar alternatives plus a can of pumpkin to keep these healthy cupcakes moist and delicious without adding unhealthy calories.

2. Vegan Peanut Butter Fudge

Pinch me! I must be dreaming! Peanut butter fudge that’s HEALTHY?! Welcome to my newest obsession. This vegan peanut butter fudge is dangerously delicious and extremely easy to make. Only a few ingredients, and voila, you’ve got yourself a decadent guilt-free dessert.

3. Lemon Poppyseed Cake

We love lemon poppyseed muffins/cake/bread, but we don’t love when it’s loaded with white flour and sugar. This healthy version is made with whole wheat flour and less sugar than most, plus the addition of coconut oil and vanilla yogurt makes it extra moist and delicious. Our favorite way to serve it? In this simple, yet elegant Lemon Berry Trifle!

5. Frozen Peach Parfait Cups

We love a good muffin tin recipe at Get Healthy U so thought why not try a frozen yogurt dessert? These frozen peach parfait cups are SUPER easy to make and delicious. This healthy recipe uses vanilla honey Greek yogurt and fresh peaches, but you could use any yogurt and fruit combo that you like. These little babies have a graham cracker crust and taste like a mini cobbler, but weigh in at only 99 calories! This is the perfect recipe to let kids help with as it’s simple to make and the assembly takes under 10 minutes.

4. Mini Apple Walnut Bundt Cakes

These mini apple walnut bundt cakes are about the cutest things we’ve ever seen. Not to mention they’re guilt free and delicious! Made with whole wheat flour, coconut oil and applesauce, the mini cakes are super moist and flavorful making them a perfect dessert (or dare we say, breakfast?!). And don’t worry, if you don’t have mini bundt cake tins, feel free to use a regular muffin tin – just adjust your oven time accordingly!

6. Banana Nice Cream

There are some days when ice cream cravings strike hard. On those occasions, reach for something a little lighter but just as tasty: “nice” cream! Nice cream is dairy free and uses frozen bananas and a food processor to create a perfectly creamy treat. You can experiment with flavor combinations, but we’re partial to the four we tried: chocolate peanut butter, matcha, raspberry, and mint chip! (Find all four recipes by clicking on the title or picture above!) All four varieties are less than 200 calories per serving.

Where do I find the recipes featured here in this article? When you click the link it does not go to the recipe for that item - such as the protein peanut butter cups. A search did not turn up the recipe either.
