I can vouch for the fact that at med school there is lttlie more than a cursory glance at nutrition. But as a vegetarian you do need to make a more concerted effort to make sure you are getting your protein. Which sounds like you do, Nicola. Doctors keep getting a bad rap on a lot of blogs for saying that vegetarians are not getting their protein. What they should be saying is that vegetarians need to make sure they are getting enough rich sources of protein, many whom do not.

Hi, I'm Chris Freytag. One of my favorite things to eat for breakfast is a smoothie bowl. Let me show you how to make one. Today I'm making a tropical smoothie bowl but you can use any fruit that you like. Starting with a half a banana, throw it into the blender, about 3/4 cup of frozen pineapple, a scoop of any protein powder, this is whey protein, and a squeeze of a lemon that makes it taste really good. About 3/4 cup of ice. About 1/2 a cup, I'm using almond milk, and then blend it up. Enough ice is key to make the smoothie bowl thick. Next you're gonna add toppings of your choice. Maybe some berries, perhaps some chia seeds, almonds or walnuts, and you can even finish it off with a little coconut. Dig in with a spoon and it's a delicious and nutritious way to start the day.
