I just became a member yesterday and did my workout yesterday and today with Chris. I am so pumped and excited to be on this journey with you girls. Your expertise and enthusiasm is contagious. I also have been in the fitness business for over 25 years. I am a certified Personal Fitness Trainer and group X instructor specializing in core work, pilates, yoga and barre work. I have scoliosis and degenerative disc disease. I am 59 years old and am just trying to be more healthy and lose 5-10 pounds but in a healthy and painless way. I am modifying the higher impact moves. The only thing missing from my routine would be cardio so I am doing the Definitions program. If you have any other suggestions, I would appreciate it. Thank you , Donna Wolf

Hi, Donna. We are so excited you are loving the workouts! It sounds like you are in great shape. Definitions is a great strength training workout, so if you are looking for low-impact cardio, our walking workouts are fabulous! The Cardio Kickboxing in the POWER 20 program and the Calorie Sizzler in the Boot Camp, both can be low impact cardio!! Keep up the great work and please keep us posted on your progress.

I know my last 20 pounds will be the hardest. I lost 60 in the last 5 years. At 56 I feel great. The trainers at my gym say eat more “food” instead of drinking protein shakes bars and eating salads. I work alot doing massage so I DO need to eat more during the day. Help!

Did you say pumpkin seed protein? What is the brand name, please? Thank you.

I was wondering what kind of Dr. Scholls? The basic flat ones or the gel or????

Hi, Tammy. Hmmm, I just buy the Dr Scholls at target, but if not cushy enough, I suggest trying an athletic shoe store-they sell higher quality inserts for sports. I have seen them at the Finish Line and at running stores.

Hi, Tammy. I buy the basic ones with arch support at Target. Not sure if they are “gel” but they are for athletics.

I started menopause and it seems like I’m stuck on my weight. I count calories, but I also work sitting all day. What do you recommend for me to do.

With regards to shoes – you mentioned you love Nike Lunarglide and I did just order my first pair to try, but you also mentioned you add your own insoles. What kind do you recommend? Dr. Scholls were mentioned, but what kind? I have a hard time finding insoles that are cushy enough.

Hi, Michelle. Long term weight loss is all about calories in vs. calories out. Everyone requires a different amount of calories because of your shape, size, and age. Using a fitness app like My Fitness Pal or a calorie calculator like this one: http://www.calculator.net/calorie-calculator will give you a good idea now what you should be consuming for weight loss. To get started losing weight you need to burn off calories-burn more than you take it and get your heart PUMPING!! Hopefully you’re loving your GHU TV workouts, we hope this helps!

Thanks for the info about trail mix. I will look for the Kind bars that are like granola. I just don’t like the Kind bars because they come apart when you start eating them. So it sounds like trail mix is the way to go. I just really like the Quest bars but will start looking for other options.
I also started using Zen Med moisturizer. Thanks for that recommendation. What was the name of the bar you just suggusted. Thanks so much.

Chris you are great. Lindsey I am going to do Metabolic Reboot tomorrow. I wanted to ask Chris about Quest bars since they have sucralose in it now what are your thoughts. I know you have recommended them before. I really am not a fan of Lara Bars or Kind bars. Thanks for your great info.

Can you offer any advice on how to treat emotional eating? I can exercise until the cows come home but my eating is out of control!!! Thanks.

Hi, Jean. Emotional eating can be very challenging. If you can pin point your triggers, that can really help you learn to use other outlets to release stress, anxiety, or whatever emotions you are feeling. Talking to a licensed therapist is a great place to start! Journaling your food also really helps you to pin point when your out of control. We hope this helps! Keep up those workouts!

Is there a difference in losing weight, if you eat 3 meals a day or is it better to eat 3 small meals with 2 snacks.

Absolutely love, love your challenges. As you progress and increase reps, can you break it up? So doing the butt challenge (love it), I can do the squats and cross behind lunges all at once, but the pass through lunges my legs tire out horribly. If I do 12 now and 12 later is that still productive?

You’ve been discussing the importance of boosting your cardio and getting your heartrate up.So am I wasting time if I also do Yoga? How does that thinking fit with Yoga? Yoga is not getting the heart rate up. It’s focus is being Gentle. How do these opposing fitness routines jive? I regularly do cardio and strength training with weights (not found joy in PIYO yet) .

I’ve given up drinking my daily Diet Coke, but I find what I miss is the fizz when I drank soda. It seemed to quench my thirst or I just liked it. Is there a healthy alternative to satisfy that fizz craving?

Another food question – are flavored oatmeals still a good alternative for breakfast (like Quaker brown sugar and cinnamon) or should you only eat plain? And are Quick oats just as good for you as the regular oats or steel cut?

I have a Greek yogurt almost daily, sometimes by itself, mixed with fruit or in a smoothie. I know plain Greek yogurt is the best for you, but I don’t care for it’s tart (almost bitter) taste and buy the flavored like vanilla, strawberry, etc. Are they all bad for you in comparison to plain or is the benefit of at least eating greek yogurt better than not at all? Are there any flavored brands that are OK for you?
