How to Stream GHUTV Workouts to Your TV Using an HDMI Cable

Stream using an HDMI Cable

If you don’t have a smartphone or tablet but still want to stream your videos, a good option to use is an HDMI connection. This simply hooks up your computer to your TV. Equipment needed to stream with an HDMI connection includes:

  • TV with HDMI ports
  • HDMI cable
  • A laptop with HDMI ports
  • NOTE: Apple laptops (and some Microsoft laptops) do not have HDMI ports. The have what are called mini display ports. Check your device first, and see if you need to purchase a mini display port to HDMI adapter cable.

When you have all your necessary equipment, plug one end of your HDMI cable into your television’s HDMI port (it will be on the back of your TV). Plug the other end into your laptop’s HDMI port, or your mini display port to HDMI adapter cable. Once your TV and laptop are connected, change your TV input settings to your HDMI channel (usually named HDMI1 or HDMI2). Now you’re ready to get moving!

Most of the equipment listed here, including HDMI and adapter cables, Apple AirPlay, and Chromecast, can be purchased at any big box store or tech retailer like Best Buy. Hint: you can use these same techniques to stream other services like Netflix and Amazon Prime to your TV!

I stream to my TV with a HDMI cable and my phone. I watch the workout on my TV but would also like to see it on my phone which would help with stretching/yoga. Can you advise?

Hi, just signed up and have a question about streaming from a Samsung Galaxy smart phone, or would it be better to use an LG Tablet to my Smart TV? And will I still need a “mini” HDMI cord?

Good morning! I’m using an HDMI cable to connect workout videos from my Samsung Galaxy s8 to my tv (not a smart TV) but do not have sound. Any thoughts of what the problem could be? Thanks!

      Hello,

You will want to make sure that your playback sound on your Samsung Galaxy is set to play out of the TV and not your Samsung Galaxy. You should be able to locate the playback sound within your sound settings.

      Thanks,

      Becky

I have been having problems steaming with the HDMI cable. I plug it into my TV and computer and it will start ok, but then within a minute or so, the screen goes blank on the TV, but the sound is still coming through the TV. It continues to play on the computer. I have tried a couple different HDMI cables and used Foxfire and Google Chrome. Sometimes it will come back on and sometimes it doesn’t. It doesn’t buffer, so that’s not an issue.
